relevance pt. 1 (a draft)

I am going to become less concerned about my own relevance.

I am going to go up to the mountain and watch with wonder the eternal, sovereign, and glorious relevance of God.

There will be no more newsletters and emails. I will no longer labor to sound the trumpet of need in this world for the God of justice and mercy has convicted all men with the knowledge of pain, suffering, intolerance, injustice, sickness, disease, poverty, isolation, homelessness, and despair. We live in a fallen world and the only remedy is the Word of God- for Christ to come again.

Until He comes again, the Church, the incarnate body of Christ on earth, will expand the kingdom of God for 'From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it'

And so I will trust the God of the harvest to provide men, forceful men, bold men, courageous men- radical lovers of Jesus- to take enemy territory from the evil one replacing his counterfeit kingdom with the Kingdom of Heaven. And I will pray to God for him to equip me for His purposes, His 'relevant' purposes, not my own.

What angers you God? What makes you weep? What do you cry about? What moves your heart to compassion and mercy? What brings you joy?

Father, your apostle Paul tells us to become imitators of You and to love as the Son. Unfold your scriptures to me; show me what your LOVE is- in your written word. May the Spirit illuminate my mind and may that knowledge of You move me to the obedience of your Son. Spirit sanctify me, even unto death, even death on a cross.

Father this is my prayer. These are the desires of my heart; Your desires. Your word says to 'Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart'. So I give these desires back to you because only You can accomplish the fulfillment of these desires, for you alone can do ALL things and all good comes from you I take refuge in Your word O Lord.

Help me to search deeper and know your character better so as to imitate you more reverently. And may I meditate on the life and commands of your Son so that I might authentically love as Him.
