At the very core of the mega-issues of our time is THE mega-issue: sin. I am so encouraged by the comments posted to this entry, seeing the very heart and spirit of God being voiced through his people. Many times I pray (and you might be as well) for God to break my heart for the things that break his, to weep for the things he weeps for. Praying that I will be able to love as He loves- as Christ loves.
To be quite honest, as I continue to reflect on the waste, carnage, and suffering of so many which is created by injustice, poverty, disease, abandonment, and aggression, I find myself praying in a different way. I have begun to pray a prayer of hate. I know that sounds a bit strange at first glance, but stick with me. I am praying for God to make me hate and detest the things that he hates. To abhor the things that he abhors.
You might ask, "Does the God of love hate?" Let’s take a look.
“Therefore, I hate every false way” Psalm 101: 3
"I hate the double-minded" Psalm 119:113
"I hate and abhor falsehood" Psalm 119:163a
'There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises a wicked plan, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.' Proverbs 6:16
"Pride, arrogance, the way of evil and perverted speech I hate" Proverbs 8:13b
'For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to love, and a time to hate.' Eccl 8:1,8a
Does God hate? Yes. Does God hate the wickedness that destroys an orphan home? Does God abhor and detest the husband who infects his faithful wife with HIV/AIDS? Does

‘The fear of the Lord is the hatred of evil’ Proverbs 8:13a

Beautfully written, brother.
Deuteronomy 32:18-20…
You deserted the Rock, who fathered you;
You forgot the God who gave you birth.
The LORD saw this and rejected them
Because he was angered by his sons and daughters.
"I will hide my face from them," he said,
"And see what their end will be;
For they are a perverse generation,
Children who are unfaithful.
