Hebrews: Summary

The Epistle to the Hebrews centers on the superiority of Jesus’ atoning sacrifice and the promise of salvation for those who follow with faithful and enduring allegiance. There is nothing or no one greater than the person of Jesus Christ and salvation is found only in Him. This letter is a strong warning for any professor of the faith who would turn from Jesus to serve lesser things. The results of this irrevocable choice are staggering! Though filled with strong warnings and pointed exhortations, the author ultimately appeals to the community based on the grandeur and superiority of Jesus Christ. The call to faithful, enduring allegiance to Christ is no less than the future promise of attaining Jesus, our superior Prophet, Priest, and King.
