I received an email from a Bishop Zachary Wambugu today. He is the president of the Undugu Society of Kenya [www.undugukenya.org], one of, if not the biggest organizations in Africa focusing on orphaned and vulnerable children. He is visiting the US for the first time in an effort to form strategic partnerships so that his organization may fulfill the commission give to us all by Christ. Anyway, I share the fact that I received an unexpected email from the Biship today for two reasons:
1) Bishop Wambugu and I will be meeting on August 5th, pray that the meeting occurs and that God is glorified in our discussions, that I serve first (as Christ), and that we are both led by the Holy Spirit;
2) I've been going through a very rough time lately with spiritual matters, and as a result I have been discouraged regarding our Kenya ministry. My faith is being tested. This email came out of the blue (I've only spoken to Zachary on the phone twice) and he writes: "This may be a humble beginning but a most rewarding mission". That is EXACTLY what someone else pointedly said to me today in an earlier conversation, which then led me to read Job 8:7 - Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be.

I want so much to happen so fast and I have a tendency to run out ahead of God. I expect results which never occur according to my time frame. Instead of looking for God in the little, every day things, I quickly assume failure because God hasn't made some grand overture in my life.
But God is faithful. In the midst of doubt and faithlessness, He blessed me with three affirmations of His Word. With that said, I leave all my fears and expectations at the foot of the cross and place my faith in God.

Michael it is encouraging and challenging to see you have such a burden for Africa. You are being tested in that passion and that calling. Persevere brother.
