Today is World AIDS Day across the world.
There are 40 Million people on the planet infected with HIV/AIDS.
Of these 40 Million people, 26 Million are in Sub Saharan Africa.
Of these 40 Million, there are 15 Million Children in Africa orphaned due to HIV/AIDS…by 2010 some estimate this number to grow to 40 Million orphans.
Women and young girls make up more than half of the 40 Million people on the planet with HIV/AIDS.
Every day 14,000 people are infected with this disease…
8,000 people die every day.
8,000 people die every day.
8,000 people die every day… that’s like experiencing the World Trade Center deaths 3 times a day every day for a year.
The HIV/AIDS Pandemic is the single largest health catastrophe in the history of the planet.
This is a human tragedy, with a name, with a face…
A destroyer of families-
An unmanageable burden on communities-
A decimator of entire Nations-
A Global pandemic-
A face of the deepest, darkest Evil-
And…
THE SINGLE GREATEST OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CHURCH TO BE THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST.
We must act today- now. There are no more excuses. Christ was the ‘visible image of the invisible God’ (Col 1:15). The time is now for the body of Christ, the Church, to be the incarnate visible image of God on earth. For God our Father says: “As surely as I am the living God, you had better listen to me: My sheep have been attacked by wild animals that killed and ate them because there was no Shepard. The shepherds did not try to find the sheep. They were taking care of themselves and not the sheep". (Ezk 34:8) We must move into action against this evil on behalf of those who are closest to God the Fathers heart: the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, and the imprisoned.
'We must carry each others burdens, and in this way [we] will fulfill the law of Christ'. (Gal 6:2)
