The 2004 Tsunami and its unprecedented destruction shocked the world. Approximately 123,000 lives were lost and the rebuilding of lives and infrastructure continues on. Hurricanes Katrina and Rita displaced thousands of people, destroyed 90,000 miles of the Gulf Coast and Texas and claimed approximately 1300 souls. People rioted, looted, and shot at emergency medical personnel. A bus load of evacuating seniors was burned to death as some of the onboard oxygen tanks (for the elderly) ignited due to overheating issues. There is approximately 650,000 Kenyan Orphans (2003 UN Report) due to the AIDS pandemic and every day 200 children are orphaned due to AIDS in the country of South Africa. The Darfur region of Southern Sudan has seen thousands of deaths bringing back the horrible memories of Rwanda. Genocide, ethnic cleansing, illiteracy, homelessness, poverty, oppression, Muslim extremism, Christian lethargy, the list goes on and on.
As a ministry, Fountain of Life America's mission and purpose is not to:
As a ministry, Fountain of Life America's mission and purpose is not to:
"Bring you bad news of sad problems"
To often, we the church move out into mission from a sense of duty, obligation and responsibility to attempt righting these wrongs. As the Church we MUST confront these problems- but in the context of a coming Kingdom, not in the context of ever-deepening chaos.
"Missions is not ultimately our response to great need"
The Gospel, the Word of God is the response to great need. The Kingdom of God is Good News of Great Hope. We are great witnesses to great hope, not merely grievous hurt. To many times I look at the world and it seems hopeless, on the verge of destruction, and overwhelming. Yet we have a Kingdom that cannot be shaken..."we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to seize the hope set before us. We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul". (Heb 6:18-19)
"The weakness of much current mission work is that we betray the sense that what is YET to be done is greater than WHAT Christ has already done. The world's gravest need is less than Christ's great victory"
We at Fountain of Life America wish to accurately represent our full intention with fund raising, mission trips, and projects focused on the orphaned and vulnerable children and the surrounding slum community. Our intent is not to rely on heart breaking statistics and tearful presentations of need. Our intent is to invite people of all kinds to participate in the work God is already doing in creation; making known to all people the mighty acts of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Pet 2:9) We will strive first in bringing about God's kingdom, for the glory of his name and for the good of his people.
"The Kingdom of God is here"
The Holy Spirit has been sent to manifest the signs of the Kingdom through each of us. But the work remains God's, he is the author and finisher of the good fruit. God desires that we be living signs of the kingdom, to provide the visual aids of what life will look like one day when the Kingdom is here fully.
'Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world'. (James 1:27)
The Church is the body of Christ participating in the establishment of his reign on earth. That is what we are called to, that is what Fountain of Life America is ultimately purposed to accomplish. Our vision is to expand God's Kingdom reign on earth in places where it does not yet exist. Through our partnership with Pastor Mbai and the Fountain of Life Deliverance Ministries in Nairobi, Kenya, we support the extension of both hands of the gospel:
the hand inviting people to repentance, faith and eternal reconciliation with God through his son Jesus Christ,
and
the hand which manifests the deeds of mercy and compassion, extending the goodness of God's kingdom on earth
We minister to the whole man, body and soul, trusting that God's great love and rich mercy will regenerate the heart of the dead, creating worshipers of God and ultimately a provincial church growth movement to expand His Kingdom.
