mission petition no. 4

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors…

If we say we love God and do not love our neighbor than Christ is not in us. Father, how can we go into an unloving world to bear your fruit if our visible lives before the pagan is no different? We go about our daily lives sinning before a Holy God and yet our Father forgives us; has forgiven us in His son Jesus. Therefore, can we not show each other a little mercy? How can we effectively reach the ‘un-reached’ peoples with the love of Christ if our hearts are hardened, not forgiving those who wrong us? And, when we cry out ‘Abba Father, forgive me!’, do we not trust that He will? Than what better witness to men than to do what no man naturally wants too and what an unbelieving world simply WILL NOT do; that is, to love each other.

Petition
Holy Spirit, purify my heart, surface my sin that it may move from darkness to light. Make us a penitent people so that our prayers may be acceptable to the Father. God, help us to love You first and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Forgive us of our shortcomings, our humanness, and our sin. Help us to love within in our own homes first. And which ever mission field You place us in, help us to be visible signs of Your compassion and love.
