But deliver us from the evil one…
Christ entered into this world to establish the Father’s kingdom. He knew His enemy. Christ came as a ransom for many, a ransom to release God’s people from the death grip of sin, the death grip of the ‘Strong Man’ Satan. Christ achieved his victory and the enemy has been defeated. But, Satan is still powerful and will fight to retain his illegitimate rule of this age. In the face of such an enemy, we are preserved on this earth solely by the grace, love and power of God, for only He can protect and deliver us from the hands of the enemy. We are the light in a dark world and the dark will never cease trying to put this light out.
Petition
Father, I pray that we realize our complete inability and your total capability. You are almighty and providential. We are in the cross hairs of a dangerous enemy and You alone are our safe harbor in a dark world. We thank you for your providence, for sustaining and protecting us. By your Son we were delivered from the stronghold of death and now have eternal life. God I pray, that while we are on earth, keep your protective hand around us in all that we do. Wherever we go remove the hindrances of evil. Wherever Your mission takes us, may we boldly proclaim the good news of Your gracious deliverance.
In the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, Amen.
